3 Things You Need to Actually Achieve & Maintain Your Goals
You might look at me & think I have it all together, but that’s far from the truth.
I DO know how it feels:
-To be uncomfortable in your own skin
-Tried all the things with NO result
-Discouraged, frustrated, unhappy, disliking how I look but more than that, how I feel
-To have a root health issues not addressed or dismissed, feeling hopeless & alone in my struggles
But I now know I wasn’t alone, because I’ve met SO many others who are going through the something similar.
If you are setting 2025 goals, make sure you don’t miss these 3 things 👇
1. If you’re setting Resolutions, switch your focus to setting Specific Goals.
Resolutions are like diets: we usually start them out of guilt & obligation, they’re trendy and socially acceptable, might work for a little bit, give us a quick fix, but they don’t last, no one has really likes them & sticks with it long term 🤣
Goals focus on what you want & will do. Resolutions are usually about what you will restrict or avoid, and this focus can leave you feeling negative & unmotivated.
Bonus: write out WHY you have that goal & the positive effects they will have on you (this will channel motivation to get started!)
2. For every goal you set, also set a specific ACTION STEP you will take.
A goal is great on paper, but you need to change and take action if you want results.
This is what most people miss.
“I want to eat healthier”…so “I will decrease the times I use the drive through and grocery shop each week”.
3. Create Accountability.
What’s more important than an action plan? Staying consistent! This is the HARDEST part for people.
Ways to do this:
Work with a professional
Share your plan with family, friends
Have a strong motivation and WHY
Track data and consistent “check ins” with your goals
PS: Do you have goals that have carried over from 2024 or a still a work in progress? That’s completely normal! Use this new calendar year to assess, reflect and ask “What do I need to do now to REACH this goal this year?”
All the changes that seem so small DO really add up.
Imagine all the little habits & changes you can make & think about what life might be like a year from now!
Work to the best version of YOU.
Here are things I wish I knew 5, 10 years ago, with my health journey (and there’s many more too!)
• Health is not a destination, but a journey & a process. There is no finish line. Never stop wanting to learn more, be more and humble yourself. Be proud but not complacent.
• Health looks and feels completely different for every person.
• What might be your ideal health/fitness right now will be different in a year…in 5 years. That’s ok, and learn to be flexible & willing to adapt.
• You HAVE to be consistent or else you won’t see long lasting results.
• It will be hard. It will suck. You have to make sacrifices. Only you can determine if it’s worth it or not.
• Don’t try and copy what other people are doing or how they look. Work with what YOU have. You are beautifully and wonderfully made!
• Create flexibility & avoid the gimmicks & extremes. This is setting yourself up for failure. If something doesn’t allow for Plan B, you might want to reconsider.
• You need to break through you self limiting beliefs; you must WANT it and mentally trust yourself.
• Find a functional medicine or holistic practitioner, that will actually LISTEN to you, address your entire well being, and you as a person, not just your numbers or symptoms.
• Build a community that will help bring you UP, challenge you to be better & give you support.
“What advice would you give someone who is afraid to try, because of fear of failure?“
Whatever you are resisting, is usually what you need the most. If you are feeling doubtful, afraid or questioning yourself, pause and acknowledge those insecurities head on.
Ask yourself: Are you OK with the outcome of not trying, or opening yourself to the possibility of succeeding.
Use your mindset & thoughts: they’re the most powerful tool you have for success.
It’s going to be hard. Do it anyways.
Make your struggles into your success story.
Use failure as a comma in your journey, not a period or end point.
You never know…you can’t win unless you play.
