Wow, 2020 has been quite a year, who is with me?! While this year did not go as expected, I’ve come to learn that LIFE is written in pencil, and nothing quite goes “as planned”! So all we can do is control our attitude, reaction and hopefully learn & grow from our experiences.
A year ago I wrote out some Intentions for 2020. These were some of them…
- Not let my self worth be determined by my productivity (I’m a Type 3 Enneagram all the way)
- Continue to learn & grow my coaching skills
- Build a successful health & wellness practice (including both coaching & training)
- Build a network with doctors & other health professionals
- Take risks & don’t be afraid to fail
- Optimize my productivity and time management
- Be more present & active in my relationships
- Schedule in FUN 😅
- Learn new hobbies or skills
- Continue to have faith in my body & health
- Keep optimizing my hormones
- Improve my pullup game (goal is to do sets of 10)
While that is quite a diversified list, I am pretty happy looking back now and realizing despite all the COVID stress, closures and mandates, and my first year running my own business, that I did have a positive year!
Things I am Grateful For:
- Having my own business that can be done virtually
- My husband Brian who is my biggest support
- My family, my friends, my Ohio Sports and Fitness gym
- My Health: The ability to move, exercise, have energy, not be sick & limited or relying on others
2020 Positives:
- I grew my business to 25+ clients!
- I had the most balanced hormone levels since 2014
- We did multiple home improvement projects (flooring, carpet, landscaping, painting etc)
- I took up golf (something I hadn’t done in 20 years!)
- I can do 10 reps of pullups for multiple sets
- I created and kept a healthy work from home routine, that is productive yet balanced with my home life
- My husband Brian left his long term job to pursue a brand new career in 2021
Things I’ve learned in 2020:
- To be more flexible & creative
- To always trust God & His ultimate plan
- How much routine and structure matters to stay healthy, balanced and manage stress
- That home workouts can be just as tough as the gym!
- Technology is fantastic, but it doesn’t replace in person interaction
- How much I need (and our society as a whole) needs human connection to be healthy and to thrive
- To not “wait for tomorrow”, because you never know what that brings
- Acknowledging emotions is healthy, but to not dwell in the negative sattes. It’s normal to feel fear or worry, but to ultimately live in peace and have faith that we will get through challenging & uncertain times❤
I understand that every situation is unique and I am blessed to have a prosperous job, a healthy family and safe home. I’m also grateful to be in the position to help others improve their well-being!
Going into 2021, my VISION and Intentions still remain similar to this year. I work every day to be a better person, wife, daughter, sister, friend, coach and trainer.
Some of my specific 2021 Goals include:
- Continue to have my own wellness practice while offering new services to clients
- Collaborate and create relationships with other wellness based businesses in my local community
- Optimize my hormones and fertility
- Finish our home improvement projects
- Improve my physical strength, specifically with pullups, squats, deadlifts and bench press
Every day we’re all given the same amount of time. How will you use it?
You don’t need to wait for things to be “normal” to get healthy. Use the time NOW to start making a change. You’ll look back & be glad you did. Do something today that your future self will thank you for!
If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, you’re not alone. I’m here for you! Let’s work through this together. Feel free to email me directly at allisonbergstromfitness@yahoo.com or message me below!
