HEALTHY HOLIDAY MEAL TIPS
Here are my top 8 Health Tips to help you feel less stressed, more confident & empowered throughout holiday & social eating! These can work for anyone, no matter your goals! 🙂
1. Be Mindful: Check in with yourself about your Hunger cues, appetite, cravings, fullness & thoughts about food, stress level, moods, attitude, thoughts, etc. This will help guide you to make smart & conscious decisions.
2. Portion Control: How much you eat makes a huge difference! Practice eye-balling the right portions, or use the “hand guide” to gauge amounts ( no need to weigh or measure!)
3. Avoid Extremes. This includes starving yourself all morning, deprivation from everything, doing extra exercise, or an “all or nothing” attitude. These..don’t..work!
4. Know your Power. YOU are in charge of what you eat, no matter what! You have a choice. Don’t feel obligated to do anything. You do you.
5. Play Favorites: Survey all the options & then decide what you REALLY want. Save your appetite for these special items, instead of eating out of accessibility or pressure.
6. Enjoy without Guilt: Whatever you choose, make sure you enjoy it 100%! Own the decision without any guilty or shame.
7. Respect Your Goals. It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to honor your health & what makes you feel good. Remember your goals & how your choices will affect them. Being aware/mindful will help you know what is best.
8. Have Fun. Food & drinks are part of a holiday, but it doesn’t have to be everything. Focus on your company, the memories, being present & remember that food should enhance the day, not be the entire focus.
