A big focus with my clients is how to create healthy, delicious AND easy meals. Planning and prepping has reduced stress and helped them feel confident about their choices. It’s all about being flexible, creative and realistic.
Here are the top 10 tips:
- Do online ordering & curbside pick up: Look at Instacart membership, or MANY stores offer this service for free!
- Wash & cut veggies: This seems simple, but it will save time later when you are ready to make your meal.
- Prep protein: Bulk prepare chicken, ground meat etc. and then all you have to do come meal time is cook the veggies and optional carb source!
- Make items in bulk & separated in glass containers: You can mix & match, easily identify how much food you have left, and food tends to stay fresher longer (versus if you pre assemble a full meal).
- Choose 1-2x days/week that work for YOU: Yes, weekends work great for many, but maybe for you it is a Monday and Thursday. Pick the days and times that you have the most availability.
- Cook every other day – Make double batches for next day lunch or dinner. This can be helpful when you don’t mind cooking more often, and leftovers don’t go too far in your house (aka you have a large family!)
- Use frozen foods: frozen meats, veggies or even healthy pre made options like Kevin’s Foods can be a life saver.
- Have a Favorite Meals/Master List: Write these down & keep a running list in your kitchen/on your fridge. When you feel stuck on what to make, refer to this.
- Utilize 1 pan meals/dishes (& can freeze as well): There are many easy, easy recipes! Check out my free nutrition guide and recipe book below 🙂
- Have healthy snacks ready to go: Refer to this article for some ideas!
